This camping experience is perfect in fall because dunes are cooling off significantly compared to summer. Fall colors are plentiful at this campground, which also offers a hiking trail perfect for taking in a peek.
Several trails run out of the Aspenglen Campground that have breathtaking views of the fall foliage, like Lawn Lake Trail. As its name suggests, there are plenty of aspen trees at the camp site, which brighten in fall. Aspenglen campground is also near the Fall River, offering convenient access to the beauties of Rocky Mountain National Park. Head to the neighboring Rocky Mountain National Park and check out the aspen trees on foot, or take Trail Ridge Road for a scenic view.
Trail Ridge Road is a beautiful way to take in the parks scenery…it climbs more than 12,000 feet, and has many overlooks to take in views. If you want to experience that landscape on foot, you can do so on 300+ miles of hiking trails. Then drive south on State Route 23, which enters a National Forest and becomes the picturesquePig Trail, which features waterfalls, views of mountains, and lots of colorful foliage. Utahs Manti-La Sal National Forest is just as gorgeous, and so is Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming, the ideal setting for an autumn foliage camping trip, with its Aspen-lined backdrop.
Nearby Grand Teton National Park is an excellent spot for seeing seasonal fall foliage. Situated on a narrow passageway in the Green Mountains, Smugglers Notch State Park is nestled in the heart of changing fall foliage. Brighton State Park is one of Vermonts most isolated and remote state parks, and an amazing destination for fall camping. Truly, the state is beautiful in the fall, but, with a lot of things to see and do, Pawtucket State Park is the ideal camping spot for families.
Pawtucket State Park is one of the best options in the White Mountains, offering 192 sites with nearby camping stores with rentals of canoes and kayaks, should the weather not be too cold to go paddling. In Acadia National Park, go to the Blackwoods campground to see spectacular views of Maines coast, as well as views of changing autumn colors from the campground. Follow the northern bank of the Cumberland River for 32 miles to Shenandoah National Park.
Offering both tent and RV camping, the New River Gorge Campground is an enjoyable place to call home while searching for autumn colors in Hiwassee River Gorge. Onion River Campground in Vermont offers both RV and tent camping options for those looking to camp beneath a canopy of changing leaves.
Greenbrier Campground is far away from the crowds of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, so you can enjoy fall foliage in full with no distractions. The Greenbrier Campground has a unique setting and varies in landscapes ranging from woodlands and mountains to the Little Pigeon River which runs through our campground. This area features tall mountain peaks, wildlife, and gorgeous landscapes, including the Colorado fall foliage visitors have grown to love.
The scenic views of colorful valleys and nearby waterfalls are Fall lovers heaven. Enjoy the scenic views of the Blue Ridge mountains from this campground, located 7,000 feet atop a mesa.
Priest Gulch Campground is located next to the Fall River in southwest Colorado, between Telluride and Mesa Verde National Park. This Nederland campground is located just outside of the valley, which is filled with abundant fall colors during the month of October and later. The scenic Santa Fe Skies RV Park lookout offers panoramic views of Bienville National Forest — a gorgeous showcase for fall foliage.
With access to hiking and biking trails, and flies for fishing on the Anthracite Creek running behind the property, Kebler Corner is an ideal spot to take in the beauty of the fall colors of the Rockies. Considered one of the best places in the U.S. for viewing fall foliage, drive along scenic roads from Mountain View into the Ozark National Forest, where changing leaves make for a pretty display. Fall is about as good a time as any to visit Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks, with the dramatic, Western landscape broken up with a dazzling array of bud-gold and orange tones.

For some of the finest fall leaf-peeping and foliage-seeking in Washington, we recommend the Olympic Peninsula and North Cascades National Park. When you get to the top, you can walk up a hiking trail for some of the best views of changing colors on mountains from New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont, Canada, and New York.
